Concord Museum Patriots' Day Activities
Monday, April 18, 9:00-5:00
Make the Concord Museum—where Concord’s history begins—part of your 2011 Patriots’ Day tradition as we commemorate “the shot heard ‘round the world” with activities for visitors of all ages.
Explore the Concord Museum’s outstanding collection of treasures from April, 1775 including the famous “one, if by land, two, if by sea” Revere lantern; a sword from one of the soldiers of the British 10th Regiment; the sword of Minuteman James Barrett; a pair of pistols belonging to Major John Buttrick, the officer in the Concord Militia who gave the order to fire; and a fife played by a young boy. In the “Defending Concord” history gallery, discover the part these objects played in the events of the fateful day that began an eight-year fight for independence.
