Campaign for the Concord Museum

The landmark Campaign for the Concord Museum is the result of careful long-term planning which demonstrates the need for a larger endowment to help the Museum continue its stewardship of Concord’s legacy. When completed, the $10 million Campaign will ensure the continued excellence of the Concord Museum, one of the nation’s treasured museums.

Increasing the size of the Museum’s modest endowment to provide a steady, more reliable stream of operating funds is the primary goal of the Campaign. With a very small endowment for an institution its size, the Museum must struggle to balance its budget each year. With careful management of resources and generous members and donors, the Museum has balanced its budget every year for more than a decade. Nevertheless, to prepare responsibly for the future, the Museum must grow its endowment to come closer to its goal of providing 25-30% of its operating support from endowment as recommended by experts in museum finance.

The Campaign for the Concord Museum will give the Museum the financial stability necessary for pioneering innovation in our scholarship, our exhibitions, our outreach to students and teachers and our visitor interactions. The Campaign will enable the Museum to proactively maintain its physical plant and infrastructure to care for the Museum’s irreplaceable collection. An increased endowment will give the Museum the operating support it needs to continue its commitment to stewardship, education and community. We invite you to join us in this commitment.

Planned Giving

Bequests are the simplest way to make a planned gift to the Concord Museum. Typically, bequests augment the Museum's Endowment, to benefit the Museum for future generations. Bequests are easily arranged, whether you are making a will for the first time, rewriting an old will, or adding an amendment. Bequests may be in the form of cash, stock, retirement funds, life insurance, real estate or other property and are deductible for federal estate tax purposes.

The most common forms of planned giving, beyond bequests, are gifts of appreciated securities, real estate or other property, gifts of life insurance policies, gifts that provide income to the donor or their beneficiaries during their lifetime and trusts for beneficiaries in which the income goes to the Museum for a specified period of time. There are beneficial tax consequences for all of these options.

Please call the Development Office at 978-369-9763 for further information about including the Concord Museum in your estate plans.
